An old stone quarry
The charming little town of Orbec has this old stone quarry to thank for its superb built heritage. In use from the Middle Ages until the 19th century, this limestone quarry was used for the construction of the town’s most prestigious buildings.
One of the last mushroom caves in Normandy
By the 20th century, the quarry’s tunnels were no longer being used for extracting stone. A mushroom farm was set up. Since then, they have been growing their famous button mushrooms (1 tonne of button mushrooms per week!) but also oyster mushrooms and shiitake mushrooms. Products are sold directly on site.
